- Your Gem: Your gem is secure immediately, but the adhesive continues to strengthen over the first 24 hours. Mild gum awareness is normal. Significant pain or swelling is not.
- Phase 1: First 24 Hours - Immediate Aftercare: The goal is to allow the bond to cure without disruption.
- Avoid Touching: Do not touch or play with the gem.
- Eating: Avoid eating for 1 hour after application.
- Hot Drinks: Avoid hot drinks for 2 hours.
- Food Choices: No crunchy, sticky, or chewy foods.
- Brushing: Do not brush directly over the gem for 24 hours.
- Flossing: Avoid flossing contact on the gem tooth.
- Avoid: Smoking/vaping, whitening strips, and whitening toothpaste for 24 hours.
- Phase 2: Days 2–7 — Gentle Care Phase: The gem is secure. Continue mindful habits.
- Brushing: Brush gently around the gem avoid aggressive scrubbing on the gem.
- Food: Avoid sticky foods (caramel, taffy, gummies, gum).
- Biting: Do not bite hard foods with the gem tooth (ice, apples, nuts).
- Whitening: Continue avoiding whitening toothpaste and strips during this phase.
- Flossing: Floss gently. Skip the flossing contact on the gem tooth.
- Normal: Mild gum awareness is normal. Uncommon: Sharp pain or significant sensitivity when biting.
- Phase 3: Days 7–30 — Keep Your Sparkle Strong: The adhesive has fully cured.
- Daily Care: Brush normally,still avoid harsh scrubbing on the gem.
- Avoid: Continue avoiding very sticky candies and chewing ice.
- Whitening: You may whiten around the gem, the gem itself will not whiten.
- Longevity & Lifestyle: Gem life varies depending on diet, habits, and hygiene.
- How Long Gems Last: 1–12 months based on lifestyle. Gem life varies depending on diet, habits, and hygiene.
- Shorter Lifespan: Hard, chewy foods, grinding, biting on hard surfaces.
- Longer Lifespan: Gentle hygiene, careful eating habits.
- If Your Gem Falls Off: This can happen naturally and is normal. It does not damage your tooth.
- Do Not: Attempt to glue it back yourself.
- Tip: Save the gem if possible and book a reapplication appointment.
- Safety: Your natural tooth will not be damaged when a gem falls off.
- Avoid (Very Important): Picking or playing with the gem, biting hard foods with the gem tooth, sticky candies, chewing ice, whitening strips, whitening toothpaste, smoking/vaping (first 24 hours).
- When to Contact Your Provider: Please reach out if your experience: Sharp edges, gum irritation, pain when biting, gem shifting, redness or swelling. .
- Long-Term Care: Brush twice daily, avoid using the gem tooth to bite hard foods, schedule reapplications as desired, continue regular dental cleanings.
